Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Powerful message this morning on the topic of hope - The Christian Faith is not a blind hope or a wishful hope, but a hope based on evidence!
  • Passionate preaching stirs the soul!
  • I am a firm believer that strong, biblical preaching is necessary to build a church both numerically and spiritually.
  • Visiting a Walmart on Sunday will test your patience!
  • Spent some time talking to church leaders this week, one of the big take-aways from our conversations - Unity is a must is a church is to move forward.
  • Too many churches are fractured today, thus they are ineffective in carrying out their mission.
  • Sense they are fractured, they are unsure of their mission.
  • Don't look now but many college football teams are having their Spring Game this week. I think I have Pigskin Withdrawal.
  • Top three things I hate about cancer... #1 It never stops destroying the body, #2 It drains a person of their energy, #3 It seems to be all consuming at times. We need to find a cure for this dreaded illness!
  • So thankful for so many prayer warriors.
  • This past week, I was looking over the early history of CFBC - wow, we were really pioneers.
  • Something to Chew on; The more seriously you take your growth, the more seriously people will take you. ~ John Maxwell

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Great message at FCC Kissimmee this morning on the subject of Hope for the Hopeless.
  • Jim compared the attitudes of the two thieves at the Crucifixion.
  • How true it is, as long as someone has breath they have hope.
  • From today's message; the one who deserved Hell, received Heaven.
  • I love watching families lead worship together, thank you Michael and Julia!
  • What makes Jesus smile? Check out these verses.
  • By the way, I miss preaching on Resurrection Sunday!
  • Cancer makes me angry.
  • Spring Break is over; Commencement is just around the corner.
  • Watching the political races makes me glad my hope is not found in this world's system.
  • Facebook messages are always a great encouragement.
  • I asked God for patience and He placed me in a traffic jam.
  • Something to Chew on; If you want to do the work of God, pay attention to people. Especially the people nobody notices. ~ John Ortberg, Love beyond Reason

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Englewood Christian Church tonight in Jacksonville as JUFL's New Creation gave a concert.
  • JUFL has a wonderful music/worship program.
  • Good to see a few alumni at the concert tonight.
  • Great message and great reception from the folks at Englewood.
  • ECC is an amazing church; they truly are known for their sending capacity.
  • The motto of is ECC, where the word changes lives; and that is very evident in all they do.
  • Great day yesterday officiating the wedding on Dalton and Allison, good times!
  • My middle child turns 28 today, so proud of him.
  • This week is Spring Break at JUFL, could be a good week to catch up on some projects.
  • Why did IU and UK play so early in the tournament?
  • In 5 weeks another academic year comes to a close.
  • My kids are too old for an Easter basket, but I am craving a chocolate bunny!
  • BTW I celebrated 5 years at JUFL this past week.
  • Next Sunday is the preacher's SUPER BOWL - Preach it boys!
  • Something to Chew on; God loves each one of us as if there were only one of us. ~ St. Augustine (Quoted in Jim's message today)

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Kissimmee today as we celebrated the first anniversary of the TRANSFORMED campaign.
  • Listening to Jim, I wondered why churches struggle with growth and church health.
  • Yes there is a God factor, but there is also a leadership factor.
  • I would rather have 5 spiritual men leading a church than have 15 smart men lead a church.
  • Kid Choirs make me smile.
  • Wonderful weekend at JUFL, spent 3 days at our annual Senior Saints event. So proud of the students - they really have a servant's heart.
  • My middle child turns 28 this week, wow, time has flown by.
  • I know I have said this before but I believe everyone is visiting Florida this winter - traffic is terrible around here.
  • Gators miss the NACC Tournament, not sure who to cheer for now.
  • For a pure entertaining sporting event, it is hard to beat March Madness; wondering who will be Cinderella, and who will be upset?
  • Speaking of time - I hate this Spring Forward idea!
  • I miss home made ice cream.
  • Something to Chew on; Outside of the cross of Jesus Christ, there is no hope in this world. The cross and resurrection are at the core of the gospel and is the only hope for humanity. ~ Ravi Zacharias

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Kissimmee today, wonderful message on HOPE from our minister of Intercultural ministries.
  • Hope is the message we all need when faced with troubles of this life.
  • Hope transforms!
  • Watching the teens serve in worship today reminded me of my youth ministry days; future church leaders!
  • Taught at Lake Aurora Christian Camp on Saturday at the annual men's retreat, the camp has come along way - so thankful for the leaders who had and continue to have a vision for the camp.
  • Mid terms are taking place at Johnson University Florida, how can a semester be half over, cap and gowns will be showing up soon.
  • Busy week ahead, Senior Saints headed to our campus.
  • Presenting a workshop on legacy; how do you want to be remembered?
  • If you have not visited our campus lately I think you will be surprised by our foyer!
  • Why can't we get the traffic lights synced on 192?
  • Peyton going out on top - knowing when to quit is just as important as knowing when to keep going.
  • Something to Chew on; (Praise to the Lord) Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. ~ Isaiah 25:1

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Kissimmee today. So glad to a part of a church that is taking risks and stepping out in faith!
  • Jim's messages from Jeremiah have been excellent, I would have never thought about preaching through Jeremiah during missions emphasis month! Well Done Jim!
  • BTW, the baptismal waters stirred again! Yes!
  • We visited Moffitt in Tampa this past week, so thankful for their advice.
  • Teaching at Lake Aurora Camp this coming weekend at the men's retreat.
  • Political commercials scare me.
  • Why do my favorite movies never win an Oscar?
  • March Madness is almost here - who will have the "One Shining Moment"?
  • I received an e-newsletter this week with tips on how to make Easter a great evangelistic event. I really miss preaching during the Easter season.
  • This week a friend had an automobile accident, another made a major career decision, another two friends became grandparents and cancer continues to raise it's ugly head, just an average week - I do not think so. So glad our heavenly father gave us the gift of prayer.
  • Really looking forward to this day
  • Nothing like doing your taxes to see where your money went in a year. Can we really have 47 pharmacy receipts in one year?
  • Favorite IRS slogan; the IRS we have what it takes to take what you got!
  • Sometimes you just have to have some good comfort food! Thank you Cracker Barrel.
  • Something to Chew on; It is not enough that we do our best; sometimes we must do what is required. ~  Winston Churchill

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Kissimmee today.
  • Powerful message from the book of Jeremiah.
  • It is exciting to see how this church is trying to reach the city.
  • What are you doing to reach your city?
  • We are headed to Moffitt this week, for a second opinion, I hope we can get some answers.
  • Sitting in the chemo ward at the doctor's office is a striking reminder of how devastating cancer can be on the human body.
  • I find it interesting how we have had only 3 states hold caucuses or primaries and we are already declaring the presidential race.
  • On the flip side, I wonder what the young children of presidential candidates think when they attend their parent's debate.
  • Remember disappointments never define us!
  • Watching the eagles tribute on the GRAMMYS last week reminded us music was good a long time ago!
  • Something to Chew on; A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them and strong enough to correct them ~ John Maxwell
