Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • The preaching tour continues as I preached at Silver Star Christian Church today. Small church with a big heart.
  • The College travel team, Voices of Praise was with me as well, I really appreciate the hard work these students put in representing the college.
  • The people of Silver Star had a great lunch prepared for us, what a great spread!
  • Our leadership conference at FCC was a great success. Gary York is a gifted communicator as well as a great strategic thinker. I can see many churches benefiting from his wisdom this weekend.
  • The big takeaways for me regarding the conference; Biblical Leadership is important, Intentional and intense, it is not for the faint of heart.
  • Question, if you are not willing to see Biblical Leadership as important, intense and intentional; why are you serving on your church's leadership team?
  • How can 4 weeks of college football go by so quickly?
  • Something to Chew on; What remains in your life will largely be determined by what you celebrate and tolerate. ~ Steve Furtick

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with church family at Port Orange Christian Church today! This is a church that doing some great things for the Kingdom.
  • Preached 3 times, once on Saturday evening and twice on Sunday - I thought I would be tired, but I was energized by the day.
  • The church had 6 additions this week. That was exciting.
  • Worship team did an excellent job today, Sherry and her team did a wonderful job leading people in worship.
  • What was really thrilling today was to know the pastoral staff are all alums from  FCC and they are all doing a great job, Matt you are doing a great job assembling a team!
  • I cannot say enough about the Port Orange CC Missions Team, their generosity is incredible.
  • This weekend is our Elder's Leaders Conference at FCC, Looking forward to challenging messages as well as practical suggestions on how develop leaders for the churches in Florida.
  • After traveling for FCC for 18 months I am able to make the following observation; Healthy churches are led by ministers and elders who have a healthy relationship. You can survive a poor location, limited resources and poor facilities, but you cannot thrive if the church does not have a healthy relationship between the minister and the elders.
  • Did you notice how Rocky Top was not played much in the 4th Quarter of Saturday evening's game?
  • 1/5 of the semester is over at FCC, I hope the students are aware of how fast a semester can go by!
  • Watching Dolphins/Raiders game today, I hope the Dolphins are not giving us false hope.
  • Something to Chew on; You do not need to solve everyone's problems, but we all need to bear one another's burdens. ~ Mark Batterson

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the church family at Sebring Christian Church this morning.
  • Preached on the topic, The Trustworthiness of the Bible.
  • We looked at the Source, the Purpose and the Message of the Bible this morning.
  • I was also able to share the impact of FCC through the lives of some of our alumni during Bible School.
  • When you think about it, it really is amazing to think what God did with $3,000 and a group of committed men and women as they started a Bible College in Central Florida in 1975.
  • Great blend of worship this morning, some new stuff, some old stuff and it was all good stuff!
  • Why can't the church generate a buzz about eternal life, like Apple is doing with their big announcement on Wednesday?
  • This weekend my parents celebrated 55 years of marriage, in an age where the sacredness of marriage is questioned, I am so proud of the example my parents have set for our family.
  • How many people look into the rear mirror of regret, when we should be looking through the windshield for opportunity!
  • Words that have me thinking this week; accountability, preparation and challenges.
  • Tomorrow evening I am preaching at a men's meeting in Polk County, really looking forward to sharing with this group.
  • Football is back!
  • Something to Chew on; Leaders must identify not only the correct answer, but the correct question and context, Attitude is so important. ~ Steve Furtick.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the fine folks of Whitfield Christian this morning, this is a church in transition and I believe in the next few years we are going to hear some good things out of Sarasota because of this church.
  • This morning's message; Can the Bible be trusted?
  • Favorite quote from this morning's message; The Bible teaches us what is right, what is not right, how to get right and how to stay right!
  • First week of classes at FCC is in the books, interesting conversations around the dining room table at our house!
  • Have you seen the price of textbooks lately?
  • College football is back, I hope it is not a long season for the Gators, but I think there is cause for concern.
  • I had forgotten how much I enjoyed College Game Day on ESPN.
  • Dear friends are dealing with some very difficult family situation this weekend, just know Bill and Holly, you guys are in our prayers.Looking forward to our Elders and Leaders conference at FCC, this conference  is going to be a great way to encourage and challenge the elders in the state of Florida.
  • I still believe the greatest challenge facing the church today is lack of leadership.
  • OK I admit it, I do miss the Fall season up north, however January in Florida is heaven!
  • Some dear friends are visiting in October; I can't wait!
  • Something to Chew on; If you think what you did yesterday was great, then you have not done much today ~ Lou Holtz
