Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Extremely busy day; Preached at First Christian Church of Seminole in the morning and attended JOY Night in Ocala tonight!
  • Needless to say I put some miles on this old body today!
  • One thought from this morning's message - Grace has the ability to not only transform us individually, Grace can transform a community as well!
  • Experienced 3 different styles of worship today - so blessed!
  • Just  in case you are wondering, no one is going to sneak into heaven, grace allows us full access into heaven.
  • New students seem so much younger this year.
  • I had an opportunity to teach last week at JUFL - it was great, thank you Prof. Harvey.
  • Oh yeah - football is getting close!
  • Something to Chew on; Without a heart transformed by the grace of Christ, we just continue to manage external and internal darkness. ~ Matt Chandler

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Wonderful day preaching at Safeharbor Christian Church in Sanford today.
  • SCC is very intentional in teaching their people how and why to worship!
  • Dan and Mark are doing a wonderful job connecting the people with God.
  • When you have not sung the Doxology in a long time it really is powerful to sing it again!
  • Great Communion thought this morning on giving Jesus back what he has taken for us. A different slant, but a powerful illustration.
  • Key thought from this morning's message, we live in a world that does not want truth, but so desperately needs grace!
  • Great visit with Jonathan and Megan this weekend celebrating a couple of birthdays!
  • Driving on I-4 today was really eye-opening, really can't wait to see the completed project, however it is gonna take a long time for the road to be completed.
  • The students are back - let the mentoring begin!
  • We are empty-nesters again, Bethany is back at school, our dog misses her!
  • I read that "Batgirl" died this week at 78, how could she be 78?
  • Went to a store this weekend and saw Christmas decorations up - REALLY!
  • I think brownies should be its own food group!
  • I have had my progressive lens (AKA Tri-focal) now for three weeks, what a difference!
  • Seeing some of the shopping lists for kids school supplies are amazing, What a boom for office supply stores!
  • Something to Chew on; "Isn't it nice to think tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?" ~ L.M. Montgomery

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Wonderful day of worship at FCC Kissimmee today.
  • There are times when one attends a worship service you sense God is doing amazing things through the life of a church - that is happening at FCC Kissimmee.
  • Ribbon Cutting, New Worship service, additional staff, so glad I was in the worship service today!
  • Churches that step out on faith understand eternity is in the balance!
  • Adding Roland to the staff gives the church one more opportunity to reach a culture for Christ.
  • BTW, Jim's message on the authority of scripture should give every believer hope!
  • While today was a wonderful day of worship at FCC Kissimmee, I am reminded, there are other churches struggling with their identity, mission and purpose. For that reason I ask, "Are you praying for your minister?"
  • Vacation plans for 2016 are coming into focus. Gonna be a great week!
  • So good to hear my nephew and his band sing the National Anthem last night at the Orlando Predators football game - believe me they were one of the bright spots of the evening.
  • Real football starts soon!
  • Writing several new sermons over the next couple of weeks - I thoroughly enjoy sermon writing.
  • Spent the afternoon watching Disney's Davy Crockett movie, life sure was innocent a generation ago.
  • Something to Chew on; The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible. ~ Dwight L. Moody

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Wonderful day of worship at FCC Kissimmee this morning.
  • I think the song "We Believe" really sums up who we are as people of faith.
  • Derrick shared a great communion thought this morning - John 3:16 reminds us we are invited to the table, John 3:17 reminds us everyone is invited to the table.
  • Chris did a wonderful job preaching his final message this morning as a staff member of FCC Kissimmee on the subject of "Defining Moments"
  • Key thought the defining moment is not the MOMENT; what makes it a defining moment is how one REACTS to the moment!
  • Chris and Maggie will be missed.
  • First round of students have arrived on campus this past week - it will not be long now!
  • Tonight is the first Preseason Football game - Oh Yeah!
  • Do we really have 16 more months of political posturing until the election!
  • Really looking forward to our Leadership Conference at JUFL in November, it is shaping up to be a great conference.
  • There is something comforting in watching old westerns on TV - the good guys always win!
  • Speaking of Chris's defining moments message, I was listening to a John Maxwell tape (Yes, tape) and he said your life will be significantly different over the next 5 years based on two items; the books you read and the people you associate with - CHOSE WISELY!
  • Another Chemo treatment tomorrow - I HATE CANCER!
  • Something to Chew on; This is what the Lord says, "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it and you will find rest for your soul." ~ Jeremiah 6:16

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...
  • Preached at Ocala Christian Church this morning.
  • Invitation and Prayer time was truly amazing - people truly respond when people pray for them.
  • I did not know one song in today's worship time, yet it was evident the people were connecting to God.
  • Question; do you have to know the songs in order to worship?
  • Work day at JUFL yesterday, and you guessed it, I cut my hand on the last job of the day!
  • It is hard to type with your index finger is bandaged up.
  • Actually the injury  is not bad, it just in a bad spot on; the tip of my index finger.
  • The campus really looks great - we are ready for our students to return and for our new students to be a part of the JUFL community.
  • I really enjoy being a part of a small group. I cannot tell you how much this group means to me. Spiritual Growth + Laughter + Accountability = doing life together! If you are not in a small group why not?
  • Are you ready for some football? Oh so close!
  • Facetime with Savannah Grace today - what a joy!
  • Something to Chew on: He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon" ~ Jesus in Revelation 22:20
