Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Fort Caroline Christian Church in Jacksonville this morning from Jonah 2. Focusing on the prayer of Jonah.
  • One major truth from Jonah's prayer, Regardless of where you are in your spiritual walk, if you call upon God He will answer you!
  • I have a new word to describe their worship; "traditional funk" believe me it is good!
  • Today their missions' emphasis was on Haiti, it amazes me how difficult life is for so many people in that country.
  • I read about a man who completed 62 years of ministry today, what a shining example of faithfulness! Thank you, Mr. Anderson.
  • Really would like to see who wins tonight for best pic, but I don't want to hear all the protest rhetoric.
  • Sometimes when I eat alone at a non-fast food restaurant I feel like people are looking at me and feeling sorry for me.
  • There are times a busy schedule can really drain you.
  • Some songs just connect, this is one of them
  • March madness is getting close, get your brackets ready.
  • This weekend I was watching a lot of youth ministers post their student ministries at the CIY BELIEVE conference on FACEBOOK and I came to one conclusion, I am too old for student ministry! Did I ever have that much energy?
  • Something to Chew on; Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. ~ Hebrews 10:23

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • It was a Two-Fer day, worshiped at Fairway Christian Church last evening and this morning as part of their mission's fair, followed by preaching at Kissimmee Christian Church this evening.
  • Mark had a great message at Fairway on James 3, on the power of the tongue.
  • Loved the worship at Fairway, they have such joy in their worship.
  • One amazing fact about Fairway, the church gives over $250,000 annually to missions. God is truly blessing their efforts.
  • Connecting with other mission partners is always inspiring!
  • God is doing some wonderful things around the world. So glad to be a part of His work!
  • A mission-minded church is a healthy church. In fact, show me a church that does not have a missions program and I will show you a church in decline.
  • Tonight's message at Kissimmee Christian came from the book of Jonah; God's passionate pursuit of a reluctant prophet be a part of His divine plan.
  • KCC is another church that has a healthy perspective on missions.
  • Driving on the Florida Turnpike at 6:30 in the morning is so peaceful. I wished it was that way all the time.
  • How can there be only 8 days left in February?
  • I am so thankful for the grief counseling provided by Hospice.
  • I fear we have too many managers in our churches and too few leaders, We desperately need godly leaders.
  • Here is a great resource for reversing the trend I mentioned above.
  • Something to Chew on; “There is a club in this world that you do not join knowingly. One day you are just a member. It is “The life changing events club.” The fee to join the club is hurt beyond belief, payable in full, up front for a lifetime membership. The benefit of the club is a new found perspective on life, and a deep understanding that you may not be happy about your current situation, but you can be happy in your current situation. ~ John Passaro, "6 Minutes Wrestling with Life"

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Fort Caroline Christian Church this morning from the book of Jonah.
  • There really is a little bit of Jonah in all of us!
  • Have you ever wondered why God pursued Jonah after Jonah refused to go to Ninevah?
  • God's pursuit of Jonah is a wonderful picture of GRACE!
  • I love it when the worship prior to the message prepares the hearts of the listeners to hear from God's word.
  • Great mission testimony from a couple of folks who spent some time in South Africa.
  • We have officially survived the first week of no football.
  • One thing that amuses me as  I travel to churches in Florida are the driving habits of Florida drivers - today I saw someone pass another car in the merge lane getting on I-95, someone had a guardian angel.
  • Watching my granddaughter and son go to a Valentine's dance warms my heart.
  • Somedays I am just exhausted; today is one of those days!
  • Walking through our family cemetery reminds me life is extremely short! PLEASE take advantage of every day!
  • Something to Chew on; Being a leader is like being a lady; if you have to remind people you are, you aren't! ~ Margaret Thatcher (This is probably one of my top 5 favorite quotes on leadership)

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at First Christian Church of Clearwater this morning.
  • Great message from the 3rd chapter of Jonah; What do to with Second Chances?
  • Key thought; Delayed Obedience is Disobedience.
  • Second Key thought; The graciousness of God is unfathomable. Just ask Jonah and the citizens of Ninevah.
  • Worship this morning was great; a good mix of ancient and modern. Why can't more churches get this right?
  • Interesting fact this morning, I met a man who attended the first Super Bowl back in 1967 - what a thrill!
  • Driving through Tampa and I did not see a single traffic barricade, I wonder if I will ever be able to say that when I am driving through Orlando?
  • 5 million for a 30-second commercial - Really!
  • No one does American Pageantry like the Super Bowl, the pregame show can really put a lump in your throat!
  • Please, Please, Please no political statements tonight!
  • I am discovering the "4th" of each month is always difficult.
  • With all the Leadership Resources available, why is there such a leadership vacuum in our in our culture today?
  • Something to Chew on; Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It is about impact, influence, and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work and you have to inspire teammates and customers.~ Robin Sharma
