Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Vero Christian Church this morning.
  • The message focused on how to live when someone you know has passed away.
  • One of the most timely topics I have preached on in a long time.
  • According to scripture, there are three items the believer experiences at death; a release, a reward, and a reunion.
  • Writing a new sermon always energizes me.
  • I heard one of the most powerful communion mediations today I have heard in a long time.
  • I have a new appreciation for public school teachers, they do so much more than teach readin' written and arithmetic!
  • We have gone from winter to summer, I need some beach therapy!
  • What do I like about my job? Every week there is something different, no 2 weeks are the same. This past week I was able to rejoice with a church that has hired a new minister, have lunch with a longtime friend (Thank you, Tim), teach a couple of Bible Studies and drive some heavy equipment at the construction site at JUFL. Well, I was able to do 3 out of the 4, it is your guess as to which one I was not able to do!
  • What do you mean next Thursday is the month of March!
  • I think it would be interesting if ice fishing was a Winter Olympic Sport.
  • Something to Chew on; The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith ~ Billy Graham

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at First Christian Church of Cocoa Beach this morning.
  • The message focused on people of the Second Chance, from Luke 15:20-24.
  • If you had the opportunity, what area in your life do you need a second chance?
  • There is something comforting about singing old hymns, takes me back to my childhood.
  • I also gave an update on JUFL during the Bible School hour, I am still amazed how God took a $3,000 gift and created a college that continues to shape the lives of men and women for Christ!
  • There is something very peaceful about preaching at a church on the coast, the people seem so laid back.
  • This past week we were reminded once again, the world really needs Jesus!
  • Some of the "back stories" in the Olympics remind you the dedication one needs to be the best of the best.
  • I will never understand curling!
  • New favorite restaurant; Bonefish Grille, or maybe it was just the good company I was with that evening!
  • Almost time to break out the NCAA Brackets.
  • Something to Chew on; If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. ~ Mother Teresa

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Wonderful message on the need for world evangelism.
  • Do we have a sense of awareness about the lost world around us?
  • Great illustration regarding Jim's aunt and her sense of awareness in India. I pray I will be aware of the lost people around me!
  • Two funerals in two weeks have emotionally stretched our family. So glad my kids are resilient, so proud of them.
  • Watching the construction on the new buildings at JUFL is pretty exciting. I can't wait to see the completion this summer.
  • Hearing of the faith of many of Philadelphia Eagles last week was heartwarming.
  • March Madness is just around the corner, I love watching the "One Shing Moment" at the end of the tournament.
  • When a girl scout asks me to buy her cookies and she says please, I just melt. Yes, she sold me another two boxes!
  • Looks like winter is over! YES!
  • I watched a man make kettle popcorn today, the sample was so addictive!
  • Something to Chew on; Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. ~ Winston S. Church.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Englewood Christian Church, Jacksonville this morning.
  • Great day as the congregation made their annual commitments to world missions.
  • Thrilled to watch God's people express themselves through unselfish generosity.
  • Dementia no longer has its hold on my dad, he received his reward in Heaven early Friday morning.
  • I will miss him, but thankful his suffering is over!
  • Here is another worship song that has special meaning this week.
  • Favorite Memories of my dad; Cub Scouts, Hunting, Smokie Mountains, Camping Out, Camp Fires, My First Gun, His shining example of loving my mom and his many sacrifices for our family! BLESSED!
  • Humbled by my friend's texts, messages and Facebook comments expressing sorrow at my dad's passing. I am so thankful for each and every one of you.
  • Have spent the last few days reliving memories, I am so blessed to have my dad in my life.
  • Started my 3rd book of 2018 this week; When God Answers Prayer by Bob Russell, good stuff!
  • Another colleague is unemployed, praying for his family as they make this transition and face new challenges.
  • Who do you pull for tonight, the evil empire or the rudest fans?
  • Fun Fact about super bowl food; 1.33 billion buffalo wings were consumed during last year's big game and Dominos sold 11 million slices of pizza. What no celery???
  • Something to Chew on; "And when my days run out, I will have lived just a blink of time and the rest will be eternal joy" ~ Abby Danielle Burlbaugh
