Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning. Jim wrapped up his mission emphasis month with a sermon focusing on evangelism.
  • The key thought in the message; Our ministry is to our members, our mission is to reach those who are outside of Christ.
  • Spent the evening with some college students who are focusing on music and worship, I really enjoyed their company and their passion.
  • I have forgotten how much college men can eat!
  • Bethany came home for the weekend. I really love it when the kids come home, but the house sure seems empty when they are gone.
  • I do not understand Bluetooth technology, I am just amazed it works!
  • I think Punxsutawney Phil was a little confused about the weather on February 2nd! One day it is Spring, the next Winter returns and then we get a taste of Summer! Florida weather is really wild this year.
  • I enjoy watching college basketball, but some announcers are really "in the tank" and are displaying a real bias for their teams and this makes listening to the games difficult.
  • I get the opportunity to teach an adult Bible Study this Wednesday night, yes this is one of my things to do!
  • The more I learn about the public school system, the more I am appreciative of what teachers do every day.
  • Teachers are under-resourced, under-appreciated and overextended, yet every day they are making a difference in their students.
  • Something to Chew on; I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace. ~ The Apostle Paul, Acts 20:24

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim's message focused on barriers to church growth.
  • Why are there barriers, you would think every church would want to grow?
  • The final song during the offering was very powerful. As Tony said, "Every tribe, tongue and nation", May God be praised!
  • Attended the funeral of a dear saint this afternoon. So inspiring to see how one life can have an impact on the kingdom of God.
  • I am sure Frances heard the words, "Well Done Good and Faithful Servant", last Thursday.
  • I connected with several ministers over the past week, so good to hear what God is doing in many of our churches.
  • When you receive Oreos on Valentine's Day you know someone "gets you" and they were dipped in chocolate as well! She REALLY gets me!
  • I had a major win yesterday, I avoided the half-off candy at the grocery store on February 15, yes the struggle was real!
  • Something to Chew on; A river cuts through rock, not because of power, but because of persistence. ~ Jim Watkins

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Haitian Women's chorus kicked off our worship in a wonderful way.
  • When evangelism is no longer a priority in the local church, the church ceases to have an impact on the community.
  • Evangelism defined as one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread!
  • The movie 1917 is a very moving movie, there are so many sermon illustrations in the film.
  • One week without football, at least March Madness is just around the corner.
  • Today I traveled 7 miles and left the house at 9:00 am to attend church. What a wonderful day!
  • From this week's devotional; God will not necessarily take your problems away, but he will carry the load for you.
  • This is SNR #492, I can't believe #500 is almost here!
  • I think it would be great if they made heart-shaped white chocolate Oreos in honor of Valentine's Day. Is that too much to ask?
  • 50% of all Valentine cards are purchased within 48 hours of Valentine's Day.
  • Something to Chew on; Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hours in a day. ~ Zig Ziglar

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at First Christian Church of Seminole today.
  • Celebrating the church's Faith Promise weekend. Global Missions is a priority at FCC.
  • When global missions is the priority in a church you can sense it in the congregation's actions and spirit.
  • Show me a church committed to missions and I will show you a faithful church interested in extending God's kingdom.
  • Reconnected with a man from my first ministry today. While traveling to represent the University, I never know who I may see.
  • I also connected with an alumna from the first graduating class of CFBC,  Good to see you, Lisa!
  • Super Bowl Sunday is the last football game until August.
  • Question; Do you remember when marching bands performed at the halftime of the Superbowl?
  • There was a time when I knew the words to the songs performed at halftime.
  • Last week was an enjoyable time cruising with our Senior Saints.
  • Shopping in the markets in Mexico is an experience.
  • A shout out to Suzy for being my dog sitter this past week, you are the best!
  • My dad passed away two years ago today. He loved my mom, his boys, and John Wayne! I am so thankful for his work ethic and wisdom. I know he is enjoying heaven today!
  • Something to Chew on; Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you. ~ Shannon Adler
