Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Salt Springs Christian Church this morning. The message focused on how to Biblically handle problems.
  • When faced with a problem, scripture reminds us we have a Heavenly Father who cares for us and a church family to come along aside us.
  • Galatians 6:2 calls for us to Carry one another's burdens and thus we fulfill the law of Christ. This is not a suggestion, but a command for people of Faith!
  • This weekend has been a reminder Jesus is the hope of the world!
  • I read a probing question this week; Are you satisfied with merely knowing the acts of God or do you want to know the ways of God? There is a difference.
  • I have to admit this is a question I have pondered several times this past week!
  • I believe people's driving skills have devolved since COVID 19.
  • I miss going to movie theaters. There is just something special about eating overpriced movie theater popcorn!
  • What did we do before next day delivery when shopping online?
  • Something to Chew on; We must remember the service to God is the greatest privilege we can receive in life. ~ Henry Blackaby

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Salt Springs Christian Church this morning.
  • The message focused on the parable of the Good Samaritan
  • The message asked a probing question; Who is your neighbor?
  • Your neighbor is anyone God brings into your circle of influence. How are you influencing your neighbors?
  • It has been 7 weeks since I preached a message in church, Today I realized how much I miss preaching!
  • Life Group Zoom meetings help our group stay together during these extraordinary times.
  • We are no longer Baby Boomers, we are Baby Zoomers!
  • Faculty and Staff delivered diplomas to the class of 2020 this past weekend, there are a lot of good stories to share about this experience.
  • I know it is Memorial Day weekend, but when did the Florida Turnpike turn into the Indy 500. #driveitlikeyoustoleit!
  • I had a great visit with my son Jonathan and his wife Megan this weekend, Good Times!
  • In memory of my dad, I watched a couple of John Wayne movies this weekend, he loved the Duke!
  • Something to Chew on; To be loved by God is the highest relationship, the highest achievement, and the highest position in life. ~ Henry Blackaby

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I had the opportunity to hear two messages this morning. Different styles, but both presented sound Biblical truth.
  • Lessons from today's messages; Pain is inevitable, but misery is an option.
  • The question this morning; why would you choose misery?
  •  Lesson from message #2, we once were rejected, but now we have been accepted!
  • There is great comfort in knowing I belong to God!
  • There are not many positives about sheltering in place, but I have found more time to read and study the Bible. It is almost like being in college again!
  • Speaking of study, I found this gem in this week's devotional; One should strive to find godly friends who will challenge you to become the person God desires.
  • Who thought it would be permissible to wear a mask into the bank.
  • I have discovered the secret to cooking is just to experiment with things.
  • Life was never meant to be lived through Zoom.
  • One of the simple pleasures in life; a good haircut!
  • For the last 8 weeks, my daily commute to work is about 16 steps!
  • Something to Chew on; Remember the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more. ~ H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Spent the day with my mom and my two brothers celebrating Mother's Day.
  • Great time sharing memories and celebrating family.
  • Next time we get together we need to inform one other who is bringing the dessert, we had 5 different desserts today! You have to sample them all - Right?
  • As much as I enjoyed Mother's Day I am very much aware there are some children who were not able to celebrate today because their mothers are in heaven.
  • May we be aware holidays can be tough on others! For some, they are not always happy occasions.
  • Our small group had our first Zoom meeting, I was impressed we are all 50+ and we were able to log on without a teenager showing us how to make Zoom work.
  • The NFL posted the 2020 schedule this week - Yes there is a light at the end of the table.
  • Now if college football will follow their example!
  • Speaking of football, we lost a great coach and leader this past week, and yes his '72 Dolphins are still the standard; 17 - 0.
  • My chihuahua wonders why I never go to work anymore, maybe she thinks I have retired or worse, I have lost my job.
  • Something to Chew on; I do not know of any other way to lead but by example ~ Don Shula

Sunday Hight Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Once again I had the opportunity to hear two messages this morning. One message focused on prayer, the other on unity.
  • Both topics are vital for believers today.
  • Speaking of unity, I watched one of the most powerful ways to close out worship as 85 churches shared a prayer for unity. You can see the video here
  • Key thought from the message on prayer, are you praying with a sense of expectancy?
  • Praying for my kids this week.
  • It is true, it is not good for man to be alone!
  • I am afraid my barber is going to need some lawn clippers when I get my next haircut!
  • It is one thing to have tan lines on your arms, but thanks to COVID 19 many of us are going to have tan lines just over our noses.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, right now they all look the same to me!
  • Facetime with Savannah is a special treat.
  • I am glad Dairy Queen is considered an essential business.
  • Something to Chew on; To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with. ~ Mark Twain
