Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at First Christian Church of Arcadia this morning on the topic "People of the Second Chance"
  • If you could, what would you like a second chance of doing or not doing?
  • The key theme of the message, people who give others second chances understand we have all been given second, third, and yes even fourth chances to get it right!
  • I received an invitation to a Disney wedding Saturday. I am really looking forward to officiating at the wedding of this young couple!
  • Celebrated the birthday of a wonderful man Friday. Mr. Blevins turned 91! Congratulations!
  • Spent a couple of days with the family this past weekend, everytime they leave the house is very quiet.
  • I was able to use some vacation days last week, it made for a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
  • Do I really have to go back to work tomorrow?
  • Another college classmate has announced his retirement, it seems like yesterday we were attending our graduation ceremony, time goes by quickly. Congratulations, Jack!
  • When your granddaughter calls you on the phone to say thank you, everything is right in the world!
  • Forget hoarding toilet paper, I am hoarding white fudge Oreos.
  • Something to Chew on; Some people come into our lives as blessings. Some people come into our lives as lessons. ~ Mother Teresa

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Two opportunities to hear God's word today!
  • Sermon #1 focused on an Attitude of Gratitude.
  • Key Point, for us to be gracious people it all beings with our attitude toward life and the things we face daily.
  • Gratitude is a choice!
  • Sermon #2 focused on the need to Go and Tell.
  • Evangelism is not a one-person job, but the calling of the church.
  • Seeing the graphic of how we can reach our city for Christ was very powerful. Imagine if we all caught the vision of that Graphic.
  • I spent most of the week visiting friends of JUFL in southwest Florida, so good to catch up with some long time friends.
  • I spoke at First Christian Church, Cape Coral Monday evening at the church's missions conference on the topic of an Uncommon Place.
  • Whenever I am with other mission organizations, I am humbled by their work.
  • My favorite dog sitter taught Lily a new trick this past week. She is the best!
  • Thanksgiving Day is this Thursday, time to look for my stretchy pants!
  • Thanksgiving Day Poll; White Meat or Dark Meat, Vote Now!
  • Message to the Gators, you got to be ready EVERY game!
  • Started a new John Grisham novel this week; I already hooked on the story of "The Reckoning".
  • Something to Chew on; Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. ~ Robert Brault

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at First Christian Church Cape Coral this morning AND evening representing JUFL at the church's annual Missions Conference.
  • Phenomenal message this morning on the need for Missions in the local church.
  • Key thought; How many times must I hear the message of the gospel while there are many who have yet to hear the message once?
  • Key thought #2, the reason churches grow is simple; mission giving, no missions, no vision, no growth!
  • FCC Cape Coral has done an excellent job organizing this week of missions emphasis, Yes, a week of missions emphasis!
  • This is the last week of face to face instruction for our JUFL students, please keep our students in prayer as they wrap up the Fall semester in the weeks to come.
  • Thanksgiving is just around the corner, what are you thankful for this year?
  • I have a LONG list of blessings to count!
  • To all my readers, thank you for locating White Fudge Oreos - I am making room in my freezer to store some away.
  • Is hoarding White Fudge Oreos a crime?
  • Traveling to Cape Coral this weekend, I have learned 85 mph is the new 70 mph. #Driveitlikeyoustoleit.
  • Thanksgiving dinner question; Is it Dressing or is it Stuffing?
  • Oh, Dolphins, are you for real, don't go breaking my heart!
  • I heard a rumor they are thinking about making Pumpkin Spice White Fudge Oreos - is there nothing sacred anymore?
  • Something to Chew on; We talk of the second coming; half the world has never heard of the first. ~ Oswald J. Smith

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I was able to hear 2 messages this morning. One focused on How should we live and the other on the role prayer has in our lives.
  • Jim reminded us we are called to a holy lifestyle. We damage our testimony when we chose not to live a holy lifestyle.
  • Yes, Holiness is a choice.
  • Stacy reminded us there is great security in knowing the Lord is our shepherd and he desires to shepherd us!
  • Remember when the Lord is our shepherd, we lake nothing.
  • I heard this quote today; We are not adrift in chaos, we are held in God's everlasting arms. ~ Elisabeth Elliott
  • In light of the culture we are living in today, we need to ask ourselves two questions; WWJD, What Would Jesus Do, and HWJA, How Would Jesus Act.
  • I am not liking this time change thing. It is 5:45 and it feels like it is 9:00!
  • My oldest son turns 40 today. How can I have a 40-year-old son?
  • I helped my son and daughter move into temporary housing until they move into their new home in 2021. Is it my imagination, but it seems like moving boxes weigh more than they did 20 years ago!
  • Moving is a young man's job!
  • I miss going to Movie Theaters.
  • The Miami Dolphins have been on local TV two weeks in a row, maybe we have set our clocks back to the 1970s when the Fins were on local TV every week!
  • Something to Chew on; Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself. ~ Leo Tolstoy

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I had the opportunity to hear two messages this morning.  Both messages were very timely as they addressed the current events of our time.
  • I am so thankful to see how God is using a variety of methods to impact Central Florida with the Gospel.
  • Key thought from one of the messages; Regardless of what happens Tuesday, God will still be on His throne!
  • Key thought #2, Remember we are citizens of a different Kingdom!
  • The more I talk with my ministry friends as well as my teacher friends, the more I am praying for them. The stress of this pandemic is taking a toll on so many of them.
  • I take comfort in the knowledge God leads us beside still/quiet waters (Psalm 23:2)
  • I had a wonderful time celebrating mom's birthday Monday,  This will be a precious memory.
  • My brothers and I have such a variety of different life experiences, but the more time I spend with them the more I appreciate our time together!
  • Seeing the many costumes celebrating Halloween on Facebook really made me smile.
  • College Football frustration this week; The 2 teams I follow were not available on my streaming services. NOT HAPPY!
  • Did you know Wednesday is National No RoboCall Day? We can only hope!
  • It is six o'clock and it is dark, not liking the time change!
  • Halloween decorations are coming down and the Christmas decorations are going up, somehow we have forgotten about Thanksgiving.
  • We were able to share dinner with some good friends Saturday night. David and Cathy are special people.
  • Only 52 shopping days left, Christmas will be here before you know it.
  • Something to Chew on; Jesus did not come to take sides, he came to take charge. ~ David Uth
