Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim preached a message from Psalm 110 on the historical certainty Jesus is the Messiah.
  • There is a great deal of confidence that comes from the knowledge Jesus, and only Jesus is the Messiah.
  • I was able to briefly reconnect with some old friends following worship this morning. Has it really been 23 years since we served on the same ministry team?
  • I was able to witness a servant in action when I arrived for worship this morning. Serving with gladness when no one sees you is the true mark of servanthood.
  • My Disney wedding experience was pretty cool! Thank you Katie and Zack for inviting me to be a part of your BIG day.
  • I was able to spend time with all 3 of my kids this week - Oh the joy!
  • Attended the funeral of my uncle on Friday, our family has gone to the cemetery way too often lately.
  • However, even in grief, it was good to visit with so many in the family.
  • After a year off, it is so good to have March Madness back! I think everyone was an ORU fan yesterday!
  • On my next trip to Jacksonville, a stop at Buc-ee's is a must! One of the billboards on I-95 advertises 20 feet of Beef Jerky on display, how can you pass that up!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim gave us a new perspective on the 23rd psalm this morning, focusing on Biblical leadership.
  • Key thought #1, Good shepherds make good leaders, and good leaders make good shepherds.
  • Key thought #2, True shepherds can give up the title and keep the testimony!
  • I am officiating a wedding at Disney World Tuesday, This is a first for me!
  • I hope I do not have to wear mouse ears during the ceremony.
  • I have another family funeral this week as well. While I am sad about my uncle's passing, I rejoice his battle with cancer is over and he is enjoying the reward we all long for - HEAVEN.
  • I come from a large family, so a Tison funeral is also known as a family reunion.
  • One of the favorite things about my job is watching people show amazing generosity. Their generosity is such an encouragement to me.
  • When will this pollen go away? Multiple sneezes every morning are a pain.
  • Upsets, Buzzer Beaters, and Cinderellas, YES there is a reason they call it March Madness.
  • I miss going to movie theaters.
  • Something to Chew on; We were never meant for a wimpy life. ~ Annie F. Downs

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim did a wonderful job showing how Jesus is the coming Messiah by looking at several OT prophecies.
  • Key lesson for today, there is overwhelming evidence Jesus is the Anointed One sent to save us from the consequences of sin.
  • Our life group began a new study on the life of the OT hero Joseph this past Friday. Looking forward to "unpacking the life" of this man of God.
  • I was able to take a tour of the new facilities of Ocala Christian Church this past Tuesday. It is amazing to see what a group of committed people who trust God can accomplish through faith and sacrifice.
  • This week I celebrate 10 years of service at Johnson University.  Here are some stats as I look over 10 years of traveling for JUFL; I have preached or given University Updates in 170 different churches. The attendance of the largest church I have spoken in is 3,400. The attendance of the smallest church I have spoken in is 9. The number of times I needed to ask for directions of the locals to find a church; 1 (yes, there are times when the GPS does not work). The number of miles I have driven representing JUFL, I have no idea! But I do know where every rest area in Florida is located. #1 lesson I have learned in 10 years, there is no one way to "do church" today.
  • Now that we have experienced our annual "Spring Forward", I am ready for some extended daylight hours in the evening.
  • I had dinner with my son Jonathan and his bride as we celebrated his birthday tonight. Good Times.
  • Something to Chew on; True courage is in facing danger when you are afraid. ~ L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Englewood Christian Church in Jacksonville this morning on the topic of Grace.
  • ECC is a wonderful church. I grew up at ECC, so I have many fond memories of the church family there.
  • Reconnected with my former youth minister from my teen years. Good Times!
  • Many of the ECC staff are alums of JUFL and they are all doing a great job leading the church.
  • Our Life Group wrapped up our latest Bible Study from the Book Dangerous Prayers by Craig Groeschel this week. Great study on how to pray specifically for God to move in our lives.
  • This was a very challenging study for our group.
  • I spent the afternoon with my uncle who is fighting cancer, I am thankful one day cancer will be conquered (as well as every other disease). Until then, we have the promise God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.
  • I received word tonight a former youth intern of mine passed away yesterday. Gone too soon, I am praying his family will experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.
  • I am speaking at the Lake Aurora Christian Camp's Young at Heart (Senior Citizen's day) Thursday. I guess life has come full circle, years ago I spoke at youth events, now senior citizen's events, the times, they are a changin'.
  • Last Monday Savannah and I spent the day at Disney World, beautiful weather, short lines, and Mickey Mouse ice cream bars - A Perfect Day.
  • Something to Chew on; We have to be honest about what we want and take risks rather than lie to ourselves and make excuses to stay in our comfort zone. ~ Roy Bennett
