Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Today I preached at Salt Springs Christian Church finishing up the mini-series, "What Jesus would Not Do!"
  • What would Jesus not do? He would not avoid a dirty job.
  • Key Point # 1 - The Full Extent of love is found in serving others.
  • Key Point # 2 - Serving others has no limits.
  • Some of the most gracious people I know, live in Salt Springs.
  • BTW I don't think I have ever seen so many fishing boats in one place as I did today. In the words of one gentleman I spoke with today, "We likes our fishin."
  • I used 2 different GPS apps to get to and from Salt Springs today; 2 different Apps, two different sets of directions, go figure.
  • My neighbors just purchased a Macaw. When it squawks we all know it. Oh, the joys of living in Florida!
  • Our Friday Night Life Group wrapped up a study on Joseph this past Friday evening, a great study on the providential care of God in our lives.
  • I think this Memorial Day weekend everyone is in Florida!
  • Movie theaters are opening up again, time to head to the theaters and buy some overpriced popcorn.
  • Attended a birthday party of a one-year-old Saturday, a good time was had by all, especially when Leo "attacked" his special cake.
  • Several of my northern friends are "enjoying" a few more days of what I consider very cool weather, are you kidding me, it is May!
  • Something to Chew on; "It is our courage which defines us, not our constraints." ~ Gyan Nagpal

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Salt Springs Christian Church this morning.
  • The message focused on Jesus as an evangelist.
  • Key thought #1, If we are going to reach our friends for Christ we must make ourselves available to others.
  • Key thought #2, Jesus was able to overcome obstacles and turn them into opportunities.
  • Wonderful worship this morning.
  • This small church has several outreach ministries and they are making a difference in a small community.
  • I spent the week in Knoxville learning new methods to continue the focus of helping Johnson University succeed.
  • The Tennessee mountains really lower your blood pressure. #stressfreelife
  • I normally fly a different airline, but I must admit Delta far exceeds all others in customer service!
  • I met a flight attendant who was volunteering on Saturday, why? Because she loves her company. That kind of dedication truly makes a difference and it showed!
  • Something to Chew on; People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. ~ Steve Maraboli

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • The church celebrated the 10th anniversary of Jim's ministry.
  • Great day of worship and celebration.
  • Churches that celebrate ministry milestones are a great example of giving honor to whom honor is due.
  • On a personal note, Jim, thank you for being my minister. You have walked with me through some very difficult times.
  • The key point of today's message; We must put off the religiosity of the Pharisees and focus on the righteousness of God. This is only made possible by the Holy Spirit living in our lives.
  • Closing out the service with the children's choir from Kissimmee Christian Academy was a great way to draw the worship service to a close today.
  • I try to live by Philippians 2:14, but Walmart you really make it difficult!
  • Our annual Advancement retreat is this week, I am looking forward to connecting with our team.
  • I connected with some friends of JUFL this week, their life story is absolutely amazing. You really do not know a person until you sit across a dinner table with them and just listen.
  • Something to Chew on; If anything I urge you to live bravely and beyond your own comfort zone. ~ Nikki Rowe

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Orange Park Christian Church this morning.
  • Great time celebrating Mother's Day with my mom and two brothers.
  • Days like today are very precious to me.
  • Jim's admonition on showing agape love is a good reminder that any Sunday someone may make a decision regarding eternity. May our actions always speak louder than our words!
  • Jim's message focused on what happens to a believer once they die, so glad we have "hope after the hearse!"
  • Are there any more comforting words than; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!
  • We held our 42nd commencement Friday afternoon, congratulations class of 2021. Now go change the world for Christ, remember Eternity is in the balance!
  • My friend Susan has attended over 20 JUFL graduation ceremonies, which may be a record for a non-faculty member at our school.
  • Just a reminder, the Tax Day Cometh!
  • I am curious If you share your White Fudge Oreo's can you count them as a business expense?
  • So far the MVP of Spring is my AC repairman! Thank you, Glenn and Company.
  • Something to Chew on; When there is no peril in the fight, there is no glory in the triumph. ~ A. Alvarez

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I worshiped at First Christian Church Columbiana OH this morning.
  • Bill did a great job pointing to the resurrection of Christ and what it means for our daily life.
  • The church has a slogan, Jesus Changes Everything, and they really believe it!
  • What is the slogan of your church?
  • After spending some time with the team at FCC, I can see their future is bright!
  • I visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week, Oh, the memories. FUN FACT the first owners of the teams put up $100.00 to be a part of the NFL. I think it is a little more today!!
  • I was able to see a lot of memorabilia from the '72 Dolphins - PERFECTION!
  • I flew for the first time since the Pandemic this week. Southwest Airlines did a wonderful job making us feel safe.
  • Happy Birthday to my daughter-in-law Brianne this week, you are such a blessing to our family.
  • Five years ago this week the lives of myself and my kids changed forever.
  • Graduation is Friday at JUFL, BTW 40 years ago, I graduated from CFBC. Just like me, our graduates cannot imagine the places they will go or the opportunities God will give them in the next forty years. Congratulations Seniors!
  • There are friends and then there are friends who will dog sit for you while you are away. So thankful for Suzy, who watched Lily while I was away.
  • Just in case you are wondering, the population in Columbiana Ohio is 6,000 and the traffic is non-existent - it is almost heaven.
  • Something to Chew on; It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare. ~ Mark Twain
