Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Alliance Bible Fellowship in Boone NC this morning.
  • Pastor Scott preached one of the most difficult passages in all of scripture, focusing on the upcoming judgment from Revelation 20:11-15.
  • Key Point #1, There is coming a day of accountability.
  • Key Point #2, It is time for the church to get serious about evangelism.
  • We are spending two weeks in Knoxville for Johnson's annual senior event.
  • This weekend we are taking a much-needed rest as we traveled to Boone NC with Marvin and Debbie and are enjoying their hospitality.
  • It is so cool to see deer walk across their front lawn!
  • Unfortunately, We did not see any bears.
  • We drove past several Christmas tree farms this weekend. Just a reminder, Christmas is 210 days away.
  • By the way, traffic is nonexistent!
  • Something to Chew on; We live in a changing world, but we need to remember, the important things have not changed, and the important things will not change if we keep our priorities in proper order. ~ Truett Cathy

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Today is a travel day for us as we are headed to Knoxville for two weeks as we serve at Senior Saints/ReNew in the Smokies.
  • Sitting at the airport playing the game; "Guess who visited Disney this week", Hint; the little girls wearing their "Minnie" dresses and carrying their Disney stuffed animals are sure winners!
  • We flew to Knoxville on a low-cost airline, it was so low cost, we were required to distribute peanuts to our flight attendants.
  • I continue to marvel at the generosity of individuals who catch a vision for ministry.
  • My office is getting a facelift this week while I am away, I can't wait to see the new look!
  • It has been 2 weeks since graduation at JUFL and the campus is a lonely place. Hey students, we miss you!
  • I have read many of John Maxwell's books on leadership, however, Leadershift, Eleven Essential Changes Every Leader Must Embrace is one of his best.
  • For months I have harped about the traffic in my community, I have now decided to embrace the traffic and use the time to listen to audiobooks. Last week I was able to listen to Tolstoy's War and Peace in 3 days. 😂😡😏
  • Sometimes, you just have to go to Dairy Queen!
  • Something to Chew on; Change or Die. ~ Thomas Edgley, quoted from Maxwell's book "Eleven Essential Changes"

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • A quick trip to Jacksonville to see my mom as she was admitted to the hospital. Prayers Please
  • I believe nurses are God's secret agents. If you know a nurse NEVER take them for granted.
  • I enjoyed a STAYCATION this past week. It was a very busy week; the garage is cleaned out, the gutters are cleared (in time for hurricane season), and a trip to Disney!
  • I am so tired I need to go back to work to get some rest.
  • My dog sitter is moving, we AND Lily are going to miss her in a big way!
  • Once again I was reminded how much dogs mean to a family they are not just pets, they become a part of our families.
  • Thank you Gary for turning me on to Spring football. Now I have something that will get me through the doldrums of summer!
  • Traffic is bad on the roadways, but now we are having traffic jams in parking lots. #toomanycars.
  • Is there ever a Hallmark Movie where the couple does NOT get back together?
  • There is nothing better than to have a hotdog cooked on a grill.
  • Something to Chew on; Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power. ~ Abraham Lincon. Please note, I have used this quote before, but it is so true!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning. Student Minister, Lance brought the morning message focusing on John 15 and our connection to Christ.
  • Lance started his message with a Lectio Divina, What an interesting way to start a message.
  • The key point of the message focused on the need to be connected to Christ in order to do the works of Christ.
  • Attended JUFL's commencement Friday afternoon, so excited to see another class of world changers for Christ move on.
  • Oh, the places they will go.
  • I still remember my graduation 42 years ago. May the Zeal Never Cease!
  • We attended the Herman's Hermits concert Saturday evening, Great fun and a reminder there was a time when music was good!
  • I am not sure if it is necessary but 7 hours of coverage for a 2-minute horse race seems a little extreme.
  • 7 years.
  • So proud of my kids!
  • Something to Chew on; In honor of the class of 2023, Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. ~ Nelson Mandela
