Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at the Christian Church in DeLeon Springs this morning.
  • This congregation has such a sweet spirit. From their worship to their fellowship, they are an example of a faithful church.
  • The message focused on the power of words and the ability to change us individually and as a community of believers.
  • After a 4 week journey of sharing with churches the future of JUFL, I am looking forward to worshipping at our home church this coming Sunday.
  • I spent the week in Knoxville this past week at Johnson University's Renew in the Smokies event. Great time of fellowship and teaching.
  • There are times I experience a flood of memories regarding my time at CFBC;  Fall Fling, County Place apartments,  Dr. Henderson, making the gospels come alive in the Life of Christ classes, Doc Smith leading us in song at the beginning of every class session, life long friendships, and life changing instructors who made a difference in our lives.Yes CFBC was a special place!
  • To all my public school teacher friends, you did it, you made it through another year. At times I am  sure it was tough, but I am thankful for all you do to help students learn. You are making a difference.
  • Something to Chew on; Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching kids what counts is best. ~ Bob Talbert.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Not able to be in church this morning as I was traveling to Knoxville for ReNew in the Smokies.
  • Last week was very busy, trips to Ocala, Lake Wales as well as helping close out portions of JUFL.
  • I began packing up my library in my office this week. Not Fun!
  • We attended my neice's graduation celebration Saturday evening, she will attend University of Florida in the Fall. I am so proud of this young lady.
  • I still have 5 boxes of White Fudge Oreos in the freezer.
  • Sometimes I want to open a box and  eat all 12 cookies in one sitting. Yes, the struggle is real.
  • Don't yoou hate when the eye doctor says, "Well, people your age..." and then order new lens for your glasses.
  • I am so glad we were able to assist 2 of our Florida camps by donating furniture for their summer programs.
  • Something to Chew on; Don't let yesterday take up too much of today. ~ Will Rogers

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Northside Christian Church in Fruitland Park this morning.
  • They are looking for an opportunity to expand their ministry as they recently purchased an additional 20 acres for future growth. So good to see a church with vision!
  • Like many Sundays, I connected with a friend I have known for over 40 years. So good to see Jeannie and to catch up with her family.
  • When I started this job 13 years ago, I never thought it would allow me to see so many friends through the years. I am blessed!
  • I hate that my 3 children cannot wish their mom Happy Mother's Day today.
  • Our Life Group is wrapping up a study on the life of David this week.
  • I so enjoy studying and praying with this group.
  • I received one of the oddest comments regarding my message this morning; "You are a funny man", That was interesting.
  • I am so thankful the administration at Johnson University is sharing many of our resources with sister colleges and ministries. even though we are closing our influence and generosity will continue for years to come.
  • Something to Chew on; Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at First Christian Church Sun City Center this morning on the subject of worry.
  • The key point regarding worry is that worry is as bad as swearing, In Swearing we take God's name in vain, and Worry takes God's promises in vain.
  • Busy weekend, an Open House, a birthday party, a commencement ceremony, and a preaching event. Wow, I will need to go to work to recover from the weekend.
  • Connected with several alumni this weekend, so good to see so many old friends.
  • The last commencement at JUFL was bittersweet, thankful for the graduates receiving their diplomas, but it was sad to know this is the last graduation from JUFL.
  • It is always fun to watch proud parents when their child receives their diplomas. Good Times!
  • I served as an usher at the first commencement of CFBC and was a spectator at the last JUFL commencement. Oh, the things I have seen.
  • Thank you Les for the wonderful benediction!
  • It has been 8 years, so thankful to see my children's tributes to their mother. I am so proud of them!
  • Auto-correct drives me crazy..
  • Something to Chew on;  We can't be in survival mode. We have to be in growth mode. ~ Jeff Besos
