Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day…

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Shawn began a new series covering the first ten chapters of the Book of Acts.
  • This week’s message, from Acts 1:6-8, focused on one word: WAIT.
  • A key point was that it is in the waiting that we hear from God.
  • We also witnessed the baptismal waters stir once again—it’s always a joy to see the family of God grow.
  • Shawn’s emphasis on generosity was spot on. It’s true: when we are generous, lives are changed.
  • Lately, we’ve seen why they call Central Florida the lightning capital of the world. The recent storms have been fierce!
  • How can school be starting tomorrow already? Summer flew by for both students and teachers.
  • Do you remember when the first day of school was always the Tuesday after Labor Day?
  • College football rankings are out—it will be interesting to see how they look come January.
  • While grocery shopping at Walmart this week, I discovered Cherry Cola–flavored Oreos. I’m sorry, but that’s just wrong!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day…

  • We worshiped this morning at Kissimmee Christian Church, where Shawn delivered a wonderful message on being like Jesus: If you want to be like Jesus, do what Jesus did.
  • Last week, I traveled with Johnson’s president, Daniel Overdorf. Over five days, we covered 650 miles and made nine visits, introducing President Overdorf to some wonderful people in Florida.
  • I often complain about Central Florida traffic, but South Florida traffic is on another level — horns constantly blaring, drivers zig-zagging through lanes, and six lanes going both directions make for some interesting driving!
  • Speaking of South Florida — iguanas. Need I say more?
  • We visited three thriving churches on our trip. It was great to see what God is doing through them — and by the way, all three are led by Johnson alumni!
  • I’ve heard a lot of people talking about how hot it was last week. Just remember, in the words of Olaf the Snowman: It’s summer!
  • Something to chew on:“A disciple is a lifelong learner, not an academic acquiring information about God, but a craftsman acquiring skills in the faith.”~ Eugene Peterson

Then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Every one was beaten, tortured, stoneded, and put in prison. They would not have endured such abuse if it were not true.
