A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the New Hope Christian Church in Nokomis this morning.
  • Incredible worship time this morning before I preached, they really set the table for me to speak!
  • This congregations is searching for a new minister, they know what they want and and have a plan - high standards, yet it will pay off in the long run.
  • Their mission outreach to the local public schools is amazing.
  • Spent the day at Disney Saturday with my oldest son and his family - there is something about taking a grandchild to the Magic Kingdom, it is magical!
  • Students return to Johnson University Florida Tuesday, the summer is now OVER!
  • Witnessed incredible generosity this week, some people truly understand Biblical stewardship.
  • College football season is getting closer.
  • My son Jonathan is getting married in less than 14 days. My daughter returns to college this week, lots of changes in the Tison household.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at our home church this morning - great to be off the road for a week.
  • This morning's topic walking worthy from 1 Thessalonians!
  • Jim did a great job making the message applicable
  • I am glad to be a part of a church that sees the opportunity and seizes the opportunity!
  • Attended a memorial service Saturday of a minister who was a missionary in Africa for 30 years and served the local church in America for 30 years as well. That is faithfulness!
  • So thankful for the volunteers who have served Johnson University Florida this summer, we are going to miss them when they are gone.
  • It is just my opinion, but the Jacksonville Jaguar's football helmets look like they are unfinished.
  • Wunderlist is a wonderful app!
  • If I had to do it all over again, I would make my ministries more about discipleship.
  • Something to Chew on;My greatest concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure. ~ Abraham Lincoln

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the First Christian Church of Inverness  family this morning.
  • It has been a little over a year since I visited last - lots of new faces. Ray and his team are making strides in turning the church around.
  • Quotes from today's message; the Bible is deep enough a theologian can drown in the complexity, yet shallow enough a child can find salvation.
  • 2nd Quote from today's message, we are not saved by knowing the scriptures we are saved by believing in the One who gave us the scriptures.
  • We are in the home stretch of preparing the campus for our new and continuing students, lots of activity at JUFL this week.
  • I appreciate the volunteers who have helped prepared the campus for the new school year, there truly is joy in being a servant for the cause of Christ.
  • Congratulations to my friend Bill, he celebrated 5 years of ministry today - in the 5 years he has led the congregation at a growth rate of 50%.
  • When I watch the "ducks" I usually laugh out-loud at least once during each episode.
  • It's back! Yeah I know it is only preseason, but it will not be long now and the games will count!
  • In 27 days we are having a another wedding in our family, looks like we are gaining a wonderful daughter in law!
  • One of the young ladies in my last you ministry gave birth to a son this week. Time is slipping away!
  • Something to Chew on; You weren't created to die. You were created to live. ~ John Weece, Twitter

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Orange Park this morning.
  • Experienced one of the most powerful invitations times I have seen in years.
  • It is true, every Sunday there is a hurting person in every church, are we willing to lift them up at their time of need?
  • I am humbled by the generosity of others.
  • After reading posts on FACEBOOK this week, I am amazed at what people fight about in matters of faith.
  • Preached on the topic of Paul's thorn this morning from 2 Corinthians 12, and verse 10 really jumped out at me; I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. How many of us really delight in suffering for the sake of Christ?
  • First group of students return to Johnson University Florida this week, summer is just about over.
  • I bet we will want all this rain during our "dry season" in the coming months.
  • I have a new responsibility at JUFL this Fall, I am the staff representative of the Timothy Club (The university's discipleship group focusing on preaching).
  • How can Thursday be August 1???
  • Something to Chew on; Unless commitment is made, there are only hopes and promises... but no plans ~ Peter Drucker.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Returned to Whitfield CC in Sarasota this morning. This morning's topic; The Older Brother in the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
  • One commentator said the story of the prodigal son is a story of a son who lost his way, But the question of the hous is which boy lost his way, one left his father's land, the other left his father's heart!
  • Did you know God takes grumbling just as serious as sexual immorality, check it out!
  • In the the Parable of the Prodigal Son, one discovers 3 sons; the prodigal, the older son and the Son of God.
  • I am still thinking about the NACC - it has been a  week and the messages are still coming to mind! Great preaching leaves a lasting impression.
  • My brother in law's passing reminded me life is brief.
  • If you have any unfinished business take care of it NOW!
  • The first wave of students arrive in less than 2 weeks!
  • So thankful for the new office at the college.
  • Rain; Again!
  • Training camp opened up for the NFL today, it will not be long now!
  • Something to Chew on; No one can make you feel inferior without your consent ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

  • Beneath the Waters, (I Will Rise) is a great worship song!
  • I also reconnected with several friends - all in all it was a great week.

  • Well it is official, Florida Christian College is now Johnson University Florida, excited about the possibilities.
  • Looking forward to spending the week in Louisville Kentucky, attending the NACC. I am sure I will be busy answering a lot of questions for our alumni.
  • Connecting with a former youth minister this week, funny we only see one another once a year, yet our bond of friendship is very strong.
  • Just curious, how do you define love? Answer; T-I-M-E!
