Quotes on Leadership

Tomorrow evening John Maxwell will be a part of Florida Christian College's Imagine Banquet. I you know me I am a big fan of John and I am really looking forward to hearing him speak tomorrow evening. In honor of John speaking at FCC, I thought I would share my top 10 John Maxwell quotes...
  1. People and rubber bands have one thing in common; they must be stretched to be effective.
  2. People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.
  3. Credibility is the most important possession of a leader.
  4. Leadership development is a lifetime journey - not a brief trip.
  5. To handle yourself, use your head, - to handle others, use your heart!
  6. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten!
  7. Circumstances do not make what you are... They reveal what you are.
  8. To go nowhere, follow the crowd!
  9. Success is not accumulating possessions, wealth or power. Success is obeying God. It means having those closest to love and respect you the most.
  10. Though John did not say it It is my favorite quote found in his book Leadership 101, Leadership is like being a lady, if you have to tell some one you are you are probably not! ~ Margret Thatcher
** Here is a bonus one; Leadership is Influence!

Looking forward to tomorrow evening!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the Church family at River Run Brevard today.
  • This church has to be one of the great turnaround churches in the state of Florida, just a few years ago they were going down for the count, but now they are thriving; Reaching out in the community, having parking problems and touching lives!
  • Dan and his team are to be commended for their turnaround - Leadership makes the difference!
  • Today's message focused on two people who were untouchable, one was untouchable because of sin, the other untouchable because of self-righteousness. Who do you think Jesus focused on in the message?
  • Too many people today consider themselves untouchable, because they continue to carry around the sins that have been forgiven by God.
  • Can you worship with reckless abandonment? This does not mean your worship is out of control, rather your worship is wholly committed to the One who is truly worthy of worship.
  • Overheard this week; too many people play at their work, work at their play and play at their worship.
  • Attended Andrew Peterson's concert Friday night at Florida Christian College, When it comes to song writing Andrew's lyrics are some of the best!
  • Will the American church wake up before it is too late?
  • Had dinner with some dear friends Saturday, God has done an amazing job in restoring his health.
  • Something to Chew on; If you are growing you are always going to be out of your comfort zone ~ John Maxwell.

Breathe

I finally got a chance to stop and breathe, the last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of activity for me, which has not allowed me the time to blog. My apologies to my faithful readers, here are some random thoughts from the last 2 weeks.
  • I was able to spend a week with some of the most dedicated, hard working college students the first week of March as I was Tour Director for the New Creation ensemble tour.
  • We traveled 750 miles, visited 6 cities and touched the lives of many people through music and drama; I had a great time.
  • Well, once again I got a new favorite worship song
  • My secret pal gave me a package of golf balls, I think it is time to try them out, maybe next week - hopefully!
  • Just saying, Tallahassee is a nice city!
  • I can see why people love to live in THE VILLAGES
  • Preached in Sarasota last Sunday, there are some very gracious people at the Whitfield Christian Church, Pastor Dave is doing a great job at the church.
  • When was the last time you thought about talking to someone about the greatest love story in the world?
  • Saw this quote from a "linkedin" connection last week; "If you change the way you look at things , the things you look at will change." I think that is pretty good advice.
  • March Madness is here, and the Gators draw a 7th seed, you gotta want it in the regular season just as much as in the tournament - just sayin'.
  • I wonder how much it pains God to see his church struggle today.
  • I am really looking forward to the Imagine Banquet at FCC - it is 2 weeks away, are you going?
  • I have a good friend who has gone back to work after a bout with cancer - Remember, God is able!
