Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Finished up a teaching on Joshua this morning, I hope I am as faithful as this OT Hero.
  • Joshua was a man of faith and a faithful man and one worthy of emulating.
  • You can tell the spirit of the church by watching the worship team on stage, this morning our team revealed both joy and praise.
  • It is day 4 of my daughter's Haiti trip, from the emails we are receiving, it looks like it going to be a life changing experience.
  • Jim preached on Psalm 23:4 this evening, great message on the good shepherd as well as practical lessons on what it means to be an elder/shepherd in the local church today.
  • One reason the church is having such a weak impact on our culture today, is we having given up on the mandate to make disciples.
  • I know it is 3 months away, but the Florida Christian College Elders/Leaders Conference is really shaping up to be a great day of training and encouragement.
  • Getting back into a routine of preaching as I will be preaching in churches around the state for the next 6 weeks. (I am really looking forward to the next 6 weeks)
  • Discovered this tweet yesterday by Thom Rainer; Because the American church is mired in mediocrity, change is often wrought with conflict. Though it is true, I also find it very disturbing.
  • Something to Chew on; You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it. ~ Margaret Thatcher.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Had a relief preacher this morning as Jim was away - Adam you did a great job.
  • Great quote from this morning's message; Reading is the way you get through the Bible; prayer is the way you get the Bible through you.
  • So glad I belong to a healthy church family.
  • Here is another quote from today's message; I would rather be able to pray like David than speak with the eloquence of Gabriel.
  • The prayer time at the end of the message was VERY powerful - just saying!
  • Worship team led us in my favorite hymn today - Holy, Holy, Holy. Verse 2 contains one of the most powerful images of worship in Heaven.
  • In case you have not heard, my first grandchild is going to be a girl!
  • I hope the members of FCC Kissimmee appreciate the their ministerial staff, they are top notch!
  • Tip of the hat to Dave H. for the free golf adventure at Disney World last week.
  • Here is a great couple of verses to hang your hat on!
  • Something to chew on; “True success comes only when every generation continues to develop the next generation.” ~ John Maxwell

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at South Daytona Christian Church this morning. Great worship and good people! Bobby Smith is doing a great job leading this congregation.
  • Gotta say I love the "New Bridge" on It is well with my soul! Thanks for the uplifting worship Scott!
  • Once again I have the privilege of officiating the wedding of a former member of my youth ministry this coming weekend - I have said it before, but I really mean it; this never gets old!
  • Speaking of weddings; Congrats to my in-laws, they celebrate 55 years of marriage today way to go Grady and Irma - you two are a model of faithfulness.
  • Great tweet from Craig Groeschel today; check it out here.
  • The more I think about it, the more I realize how important Biblical Elders are to a Healthy Church.
  • Disney raised their prices today, AGAIN! The happiest place on earth may soon be the loneliest place on earth if these price hikes continue.
  • Something to Chew on; Your employers quickly forget the long hours you give them at work. Your children never forget memory-making moments with them. ~ Thom Rainer
