Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at our home church this morning, great to take a break from the road!
  • Jim's message was a great reminder regarding the need for prayer.
  • Jim shared a prayer blocker this morning reminding all of us why our prayer life seems so ineffective.
  • Fall Festival at the church was great as well, spent the whole time reconnecting with old friends so thankful for ministry friendships.
  • Lately I have been involved in a lot decisions that have required solid biblical leadership, I feel I am a better leader by watching what has and has not taken place regarding leadership.
  • I am really impressed with the freshman class at FCC this year!
  • I believe the reason some churches move forward is because they understand the secret of trusting God.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the church family of Brooksville Christian this morning, This church is doing some great things on the west coast of Florida.
  • Really enjoyed their time of worship and communion this morning.
  • Someone has taught Brooksville Christian to be excellent greeters, and it really worked.
  • I wonder if people really understand how important a first impression truly is to new people visiting our churches; Brooksville Christian understands and it shows.
  • Can we really be in the 7th week of the college football season?
  • Saw an example of leadership by force this week, this never works! Remember elders are called to be shepherds, not managers.
  • Here is a question I have been pondering, how does changing a church's name position a church for growth? Just wondering.
  • Every time I hear of a minister's family facing divorce I am brokenhearted.
  • I came upon this old blog post this week, made me smile.
  • I have to admit I am a little jealous of the "Fall" Pictures my friends are posting on FACEBOOK. But then I remember, winter is coming!
  • I posted last week I was having dinner with some dear friends on Tuesday evening, it was a great night and I am truly blessed to have this family in my life!
  • I am looking forward to Thanksgiving!
  • Something to Chew on; The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, He is the one who gets the people to do the greatest things ~ Ronald Reagan

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the church family of FCC Titusville this morning, great time of worship!
  • I was able to preach on the topic; "There is a little bit of Jonah in all of us". Like Jonah, there is always a reluctance until we commit ourselves to God's plans.
  • There are basically two Jonah's in the book of Jonah; Jonah 1.0 the one who ran and Jonah 2.0, the one that did what God asked him to do.
  • Question; Which Jonah are you; 1.0 or 2.0?
  • I also did something I have not done in 20 years, teach a Jr. High Bible School Class, let me just say things have changed.
  • FCC Titusville held a missions emphasis this weekend. It was obvious, FCC Titusville believes in missions.
  • The church has several people who have grown up in the church and are now serving somewhere in the world.
  • At a time when churches are considering cutting their missions ministry here is a church who understands "it is not all about us."
  • If you live in Florida, you might notice that God is lowering the thermostat around here a little bit, it is beginning to get a nicer in this area.
  • Six weeks down and the college football season is really getting interesting.
  • Will wonders ever cease, my mom got an iPhone this week - WOW!
  • Some good friends of mine have been in California this past week, looks like they have had a wonderful time.
  • The Fall TV season is upon us, I cannot believe some people are paid to produce some of the shows being offered this year.
  • This past week's debate should be a reminder to all  leaders; you just cannot mail it in!
  • Dinner plans this week include having a dinner with some friends I first met in 1984, I cannot wait to reconnect.
  • Sometimes I am surprised by opportunities God lays before me. It does make this ministry really exciting!
  • Something to Chew on; Any church that is not seriously involved in helping fulfill the great commission, has forfeited its Biblical right to exist ~ Oswald J. Smith (Ouch - now that one hurt!)
