Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at FCC Kissimmee this morning.
  • Jim did a great job with the message from John 5.
  • Great question to ponder - Do you want to get well; if so there will be some new responsibilities and new demands coming into your life, are you ready for such a change?
  • Key thought Jesus knows about our disabilities and he want to cure our disabilities.
  • Best quote not in today's message, our greatest disability is not that we are blind or lame, but our greatest disability is our sin!
  • Quote from Bible Study this morning "Wisdom is always referred to as a woman in scripture." Never heard that one before!
  • Every preacher should read this post, it is both insightful as well as challenging.
  • When members of your youth group join the church you are attending as adults you know time as passed, so blessed to see these fine families join FCC Kissimmee.
  • John Ortberg continues to be one of my favorite authors, he really has a way with words.
  • 50 years from now will it really matter how you were mistreated by others, probably not, but it will matter how you treat others.
  • I know I do not say it enough but I am truly blessed by the team that surrounds me at FCC. They make work a joy!
  • Only 7 more days until the Super Bowl, should be a good one.
  • The Florida Gators are playing incredible basketball right now, hope they do not peak before the tournament.
  • Something to Chew on; Have you noticed that many people read the Bible a lot more as they get older? They're cramming for finals! ~ From Bob Russell's Twitter Feed

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped with the church family at Port Orange Christian Church today.
  • Matt and the team really understand what it means to be a Faith Community.
  • One of the most generous churches I have seen in a long time. They truly are living out the words of Ecclesiastes 11:1
  • Preached on the power of the word of God today, A basic message yet in a world of shifting sand it is a good reminder we have a foundation that is firm.
  • The NFL season is coming to a close; only one more game and it is for all the marbles (I am not counting the pro bowl)
  • Watching Ray Lewis during the singing of National Anthem today was very moving - I am really pulling for his Cinderella story.
  • My daughter turns 20 today - YIKES!
  • Granddaughter coming for a visit Saturday - Good Times!
  • Tomorrow is a holiday from work, however Kathy has a HONEY DO list that is a mile long, no sleeping in tomorrow.
  • When I see the squabbling and posturing in Washington, I am so glad our hope is not in our government - what a mess.
  • Looking forward to speaking in Chapel at FCC Tuesday morning.
  • Two years ago this week I walked away from the located ministry, still miss preaching in a local church, however the last two years have been both challenging as well as inspiring. I would not trade the experience, it really has been a growth opportunity for me.
  • Something to Chew on; if you have honesty and integrity nothing else matters, if you do not have honesty and integrity nothing else matters ~ John Ortberg

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Great message from from John 2 today.
  • Jim reminded all of us of the ability and power to be transformed.
  • Jim's insight in why Jesus made better wine was very insightful.
  • Gary's insight on it is not too difficult was a good reminder of how we can make a difference with just a little bit of effort.
  • Student's coming back to FCC, time for the second semester to begin - Good Times!
  • Looking forward to a big week at FCC.
  • Gotta say the NFL playoffs have truly been exciting.
  • Indy learned the hard way, wins are not given to you by the media, they are earned on the field.
  • Ray Lewis' message from Psalm 91 is inspiring
  • Today is January 13 according to many experts most people will break their resolutions by January 17; how are you doing?
  • I have to say James Smith book, "The Good and Beautiful God" has given me a fresh perspective on spiritual disciplines.
  • The python hunters in South Florida are some of the most crazy people I have seen
  • Something to Chew on; A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit. ~ John Maxwell. This may be one of my favorite Maxwell quotes.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts From an Amazing Day...

  • Great day of worship at FCC Kissimmee today, it is evident God is working with his people at this church.
  • Jim gave some amazing stats regarding growth and programming, but what was really amazing was the number of people involved in ministry.
  • Remember it is not your seating capacity but your sending capacity that is a mark of a healthy church.
  • Kathy and I had a great time in worship today as all three of our children, our daughter in law  and our granddaughter was in worship with us today - good times.
  • Florida Christian College's announcement Friday is filled with possibilities.
  • Yes there are many questions, but the possibilities are interesting to say the least.
  • Gators played uninspired football at the Sugar Bowl and it showed. There is a lot of work to be done before the 2013 season.
  • Valentines Card are already out in stores; got to keep the spending cycle going.
  • Something to Chew on; The art of leadership is saying no, not saying yes. It is very easy to say yes. ~Tony Blair

Goodbye 2012

We bid 2012 a fond farewell yesterday. I have seen many changes come into my life this past year.

  • First and foremost the birth of my first grandchild  Savannah Grace. She truly has given me a new perspective on life. Since November 16th, I have thought a lot about legacies and what I want to tell Savannah about life and the Lord. I am looking forward to the day she asks me about Jesus.
  • In June my role at Florida Christian College changed, I am still Director of Alumni Relations, but a new titled has been added to my responsibilities. I am now Director of Church Relations and Alumni Relations. The new role has given me exposure to many of the churches in Florida. Over the last 2 years I have witnessed a variety of ways to "Do Church" and while the basics of the faith are evident, it is amazing the creativity I have seen in our churches. Part of my responsibility in church relations is helping churches navigate changes, secure new ministers and fill the pulpit for minister who are away on vacation. As I have traveled around the state, I have discovered the #1 element that helps churches be successful is leadership. Elders who understand Biblical leadership are able to guide and lead their church through both the good times as well as the troubling times.
  • My father is beginning to struggle with some health issues and this has been a reminder to make the most of every opportunity. Remember life is short, make sure you know what is really important.
  • I continue to see the value in lifelong learning, John Ortberg and Steven Furtick continue to be my favorite preachers. While a new new group of young leaders are writing new books regarding leadership, John Maxwell still remain my leadership guru.
  • While I am not able to attend my "home church" as much as I would like (because I am visiting other churches around the state), I am glad my family is a part of the FCC Kissimmee Family. Before we moved to Kissimmee we decided FCC Kissimmee would be our church home, I am glad we did. The messages are challenging, the worship is inspiring and the fellowship is genuine.
  • 2013 is a new year, many challenges are on the horizon as well as many opportunities. I am looking forward to see what happens in the coming year.
