We bid 2012 a fond farewell yesterday. I have seen many changes come into my life this past year.
- First and foremost the birth of my first grandchild Savannah Grace. She truly has given me a new perspective on life. Since November 16th, I have thought a lot about legacies and what I want to tell Savannah about life and the Lord. I am looking forward to the day she asks me about Jesus.
- In June my role at Florida Christian College changed, I am still Director of Alumni Relations, but a new titled has been added to my responsibilities. I am now Director of Church Relations and Alumni Relations. The new role has given me exposure to many of the churches in Florida. Over the last 2 years I have witnessed a variety of ways to "Do Church" and while the basics of the faith are evident, it is amazing the creativity I have seen in our churches. Part of my responsibility in church relations is helping churches navigate changes, secure new ministers and fill the pulpit for minister who are away on vacation. As I have traveled around the state, I have discovered the #1 element that helps churches be successful is leadership. Elders who understand Biblical leadership are able to guide and lead their church through both the good times as well as the troubling times.
- My father is beginning to struggle with some health issues and this has been a reminder to make the most of every opportunity. Remember life is short, make sure you know what is really important.
- I continue to see the value in lifelong learning, John Ortberg and Steven Furtick continue to be my favorite preachers. While a new new group of young leaders are writing new books regarding leadership, John Maxwell still remain my leadership guru.
- While I am not able to attend my "home church" as much as I would like (because I am visiting other churches around the state), I am glad my family is a part of the FCC Kissimmee Family. Before we moved to Kissimmee we decided FCC Kissimmee would be our church home, I am glad we did. The messages are challenging, the worship is inspiring and the fellowship is genuine.
- 2013 is a new year, many challenges are on the horizon as well as many opportunities. I am looking forward to see what happens in the coming year.
