Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at First Christian Church of Arcadia this morning, yep the covid bug caught up with their minister.
  • Sermon prep on Saturday evening is not fun.
  • The drive to Arcadia was pleasant as I listened to a Rich Mullins CD for most of the trip. Yes, I did say CD.  Don't laugh at me!
  • Great to have the kids home this weekend.
  • How can this be the last weekend in June? The year is half over.
  • Does anyone know how to fold a fitted sheet?
  • I miss football so much that I watched the College National Championship rerun last night. Breaking news the Bulldogs won the game again!
  • Something to Chew on; don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies forward toward finding the answer. ~ Denis Waitley

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim's message on Biblical manhood was spot on.
  • I want to encourage you to reread Job 29 and seek to have the kind of influence Job had on his family and his community.
  • It is time for men to return to their biblical mandate of leading their families and being men of character in the workplace!
  • If we follow the mandate, the world will notice!
  • We sang one of my favorite songs today, "The Goodness of God" I now have 25 top 10 worship songs!
  • My job allows me to see generosity in action, often in unexpected ways.
  • It is not the bank account, it is the faith account that makes the difference.
  • There is nothing better than having my children visit, good times!
  • When $50 of gas does not register 3/4 of a tank of gas you have to ask yourself, "Is this trip essential?"
  • Represented JUFL to a church in Lakeland Thursday evening. How can it take 2 hours to travel 50 miles? I-4 is becoming a giant parking lot.
  • Once again I was energized by practicing the gift of pastoral care this past week.
  • Lori will be home in 600 hours!
  • Something to Chew on; Focus on doing the right things instead of a bunch of things. ~ Mike Krieger

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Pathways Christian Church this morning in Port Richey.
  • The message focused on God's providential plan in our lives
  • Key thought #1; Giving our lives to God is the supreme act of faith and trust.
  • Key thought #2; It is in surrender we find our joy in being a part of God's unfolding plan.
  • Last week's life group's lesson focused on seeking God and his glory in spite of difficult circumstances. A lesson we could all use.
  • Speaking of difficult circumstances, the price of gas is ridiculous.
  • The new grandson is here! Time to Celebrate!
  • Another Gresham book has grabbed my attention.
  • Phone calls are a poor substitute for face-to-face conversation.
  • I begin training on some new software this week, Don't they realize you cannot teach an old dog new tricks! WOOF!
  • Only 75 more days until the Collge Football Season.
  • Oreo Blizzards make life so good.
  • Something to Chew on; Smart people focus on the right things. ~ Jensen Huang

Sunday Night Reflecations

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at River Run Christian Church this morning.
  • Arron had a great message from Matthew 16.
  • River Run is going through a ministry change as the senior minister Dan is retiring and Arron is taking over the leadership responsibilities. More churches need to plan a ministry transition as their lead ministers face retirement.
  • Our Life Group started a new study this week, Red Sea Rules. I am looking forward to seeing what God reveals to us through this study.
  • It is good to be home this week. I spent the better part of the month of May traveling. I lived out of a suitcase for twenty of the last twenty-five days!
  • Miss Savannah is going to church camp this week, it seemed like yesterday I was holding her in my arms and giving her back to her mother when I smelled a dirty diaper!
  • We are still waiting for the Michigan grandbaby to be born!
  • There are some movies you have to see in the theater, Maverick is such a movie.
  • JUFL is in silent mode this month as so many are on vacation.
  • Lily is missing Lori this week and so and I, just in case you are wondering Chihuahuas are NOT very good conversationalists!
  • Something to Chew on; My word of the year has been Focus, to see what focus looks like read the account of the Biblical Hero Caleb today found in Joshua 14. I hope this is said of me when I turn 85!
