Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at New Beginnings Christian Church in Tampa this morning.
  • NBCC was holding its annual Faith Promise Weekend.
  • My message was based on Romans 10:15.
  • The key point of the message focused on those who bring the good news to people who desperately need to hear about the amazing grace of Jesus.
  • Preaching outside on a boat is an experience!
  • After working in the Advancement Department of JUFl for 12+ years I am very grateful for the people who share their resources to advance the gospel around the world.
  • The White Chocolate Oreos are back, let the hoarding begin!
  • We FALL BACK next Saturday evening.
  • Some college football games are just too painful to watch.
  • I have been enjoying the podcast by Patrick Lencioni, His talk on Being a Jerk is spot on.
  • Something to Chew on; You are only one decision away from a totally different life. ~ Wilfred A. Peterson

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at First Christian Church of Bartow this morning on my favorite subject; GRACE!
  • FCC Bartow is a small church, but they have a wonderful spirit.
  • I met a family today who attended the same church I attended as a teenager. It truly is a small world when it comes to people in the Christian Church.
  • The trustees of Johnson University have chosen Dr. Daniel Overdorf as the University's eighth president. I regret I will not be able to serve with him. He is a godly leader and a very gracious man.
  • Opportunities are sometimes disguised as challenges.
  • Thanksgiving is less than 5 weeks away.
  • Do you call it "Staffing" or "Dressing?"
  • With Amazon and Online shopping, does anyone participate in Black Friday anymore?
  • I am currently reading "The 16 Undeniable Laws of  Communication" by John Maxwell. While much of the information is familiar, it is a good book to have all the "Laws" in one place.
  • Several of my friends are going through some serious health concerns this is a constant reminder of how prayer is a  vital part of our life.
  • Something to Chew on; We are either in the process of resisting God's truth or in the process of being shaped and molded by His truth. ~ Charles Stanley

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim preached a message from Acts 17:6, On the topic of turning the world upside down.
  • Key point #1, Turning the world upside down does not just happen, it must be intentional.
  • Key point #2, A sleeping church cannot turn the world upside down.
  • We witnessed a young couple rededicate their life this morning, they will be getting married soon and want their marriage to start off on the right foot.  Yes, Jesus changes everything.
  • With the changing landscape of our Christian Colleges, we must ask ourselves who will train the next generation of preachers?
  • Great time in Michigan last week, visiting family and hoping to experience a little bit of a Michigan Fall. We did both, Family time was great and Fall was well, all I can say is it was cold, wet, and gray.
  • One week is too short for a vacation to see family.
  • I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.
  • We also made a quick trip to Palm Bay today to celebrate another grandchild's birthday. Good Times!
  • So glad birthday cake has no calories.
  • This was a great day to be a Florida Football Fan, many of our teams walked away winners!
  • The '72 Dolphins remain the only ones who live in the town of PERFECTION!
  • My daily prayer is; "God make it abundantly clear!"
  • Something to Chew on; A person must be big enough to admit one's mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them. ~ John Maxwell

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Our vacation started off on the wrong foot this morning as our airline canceled our flight 25 minutes before take off.
  • Hopefully, we will have better luck tomorrow.
  • BTW, when you cancel a flight 25 minutes before your flight, be prepared for some really angry customers.
  • This year is drawing to a close too quickly.
  • A bridge opens and there is no relief in traffic, welcome to St. Cloud.
  • In less than 300 days my life is going to change in a big way.
  • I will have New Challenges and New Opportunities.
  • Whatever may come I am taking Joshua 1:9 to heart.
  • Something to Chew on; Opportunities are like sunrises. If wait too long, you miss them, ~ William Arthur Ward

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • We watched the baptismal waters stir once again, this never gets old!
  • Jim did a great job with the topic of moving forward with God.
  • Imagine the difference this world would be if we all moved forward... With God!
  • Our Life Group began our new study this week, great time sharing life with this group of people.
  • This is the final quarter of 2023, it is hard to imagine 2024 is just around the corner.
  • Do you remember Y2K?
  • I continue to be humbled by the generosity of people who are mature in the Faith.
  • As I reflect on 12+ years of working at Johnson U, I find the greatest joy is to be with people who practice generosity.
  • BTW, generosity has nothing to do with the amount, generosity does not come from the balance in the bank account but from the heart of the generous.
  • Watching friends battle cancer brings up some painful memories.
  • Question to ponder; Is it Fall or is it Autumn?
  • Something to Chew On; My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure. ~ Abraham Lincoln
