Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Winter Haven Christian Church this morning.
  • The focus of the message centered around the topic of being a Grace Dispenser in a Grace Consuming World.
  • The church family at WHCC is an encouraging congregation.
  • I should not be surprised, their senior minister, Preacher Jim is a fine example of an encourager.
  • For my preacher friends, "What are you modeling for your congregation?"
  • 2023 wrap-up; I preached 26 times in churches around the state. I do not know the miles traveled but it is good to take a little rest in January and worship at my home church, Kissimmee Christian Church.
  • Staying up until midnight tonight is overrated. At my age, I need my beauty sleep!
  • This week I discovered a couple of ministers in Florida passed away, praying for the churches they led and hoping they can find a new preacher soon.
  • 2023 has been a year of surprises, both pleasant and unpleasant.
  • Not sure about what 2024 holds but I know who is in control and I will trust Him!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Another Two-fer weekend as I preached at Citrus Ridge Church this morning and returned tonight to lead their Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
  • I have really enjoyed speaking at Citrus Ridge the last few weeks. Good People!
  • One of the best things about preaching at Citrus Ridge, it helps me keep my preaching skills sharp. I was writing a new sermon every week!
  • Two dear friends lost their fathers this week, Praying God and His people will comfort them in the days ahead!
  • JUFL has only one semester left. The closure is becoming real!
  • So many memories, so many opportunities, and so many friendships! May the Zeal never cease!
  • The transfer portal is ruining college football, and NIL is not helping!
  • Carmel Popcorn, Party Mix, and White Fudge Oreos, these are a few of my favorite things!
  • Something to Chew on; He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ~ Roy L. Smith
  • Finally, MERRY CHRISTMAS to my faithful readers!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We have another two-fer Sunday, this morning I preached at Citrus Ridge Church, and tonight I attended FCC Kissimmee to hear the Liberty Voices Christmas concert.
  • Today's message focused on Mary and her willingness to submit to God's plan.
  • Key Point this morning; At Christmas, God did not give us what we wanted, God gave us what we needed - Salvation.
  • The Liberty Voices reminds us music is the language of the heart.
  • I have noticed during this time of year people are more generous and more gracious except when you are looking for a parking space and then it is time for the Road Warrior!
  • I celebrate a milestone birthday today, yep, 65. Let the senior citizen discounts begin!
  • When you are serenaded by friends, kids, and grandkids for your birthday, you know it is a good day.
  • The SEC college football schedule was posted this week, there are going to be some great games coming next Fall.
  • Our Christmas Tree is up and only 1 bulb was burnt out, A Christmas Miracle!
  • I have been to several Christmas programs in the last few weeks, and all that is left is to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" and attend our Christmas Eve Candlelight service and Christmas will be complete!
  • Something to Chew on; Christmas is not a story of hope; it is hope. ~ Craig Lounsbrough

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • It was another two-fer Sunday as I preached at Citrus Ridge Church this morning and we attended Kissimmee Christian Church's Christmas concert this evening.
  • The focus of the message this morning was on Joesph and the importance of the virgin birth of Jesus.
  • Key point of the message, the virgin birth reminds us of the divinity of Christ.
  • This was probably the most theological sermon I have preached in a long time.
  • Tonight we were able to celebrate the sounds of the season by hearing the Christmas account in 5 different language groups. Thank you Tony for your creativity and commitment to excellence in worship!
  • When you see a 95-year-old woman serving as a greeter you have to ask yourself what is keeping me from serving? Thank you Norma for your fine example tonight.
  • Another Night of Noel is finished, Thank you Dirk and Ruth for your leadership in this ministry. We had 700 in attendance! It was a wonderful night!
  • The college football season is over, not one of our better years.
  • If the Malls really wanted to make money they could sell parking spaces. They would make a fortune!
  • The first semester of JUFL is in the books. January begins our last semester, and we hope all our students finish strong.
  • Something to Chew on; He who does not have Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ~ Roy Smith

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Citrus Ridge Church this morning.
  • The morning message focused on the question, Are you ready for Christmas or are you prepared for Christmas? There is a difference!
  • Key Thought from the message, Preparing for Christmas allows you to avoid the frivolous of the holiday, and discover the meaningful message of the Season.
  • It is a two-fer day as we travel to Wildwood tonight to see the presentation of "The Best of Christmas" at New Life Christian Church.
  • Wonderful dinner with our Life Group Friday evening. I enjoy being a part of this group.
  • This weekend is our last Night of Noel at JUFL. I am going to miss this annual event! While we are sold out for the dinner, you can join us for the musical presentation in the Chapman Center at 3:00 and 7:00 on Saturday.
  • Great time at the Tison Christmas Party yesterday. Good Times!
  • The "4" are in, now we can argue who should and should not be in the playoff!
  • Okay, who is hoarding the Oreos? I cannot find them anywhere!
  • Something to Chew on; Christmas allows us to pause and reflect on the important things around us. ~ David Carmon
