Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Wonderful time of worship and hearing God's word proclaimed!
  • It was very encouraging to hear of the church's partnership with Westside Christian Church in Jacksonville. More churches need to reach out in this way.
  • We returned to KCC tonight to hear the the Liberty Voices, amazing voices and a wonderful spirit.
  • Saturday we were involved ina "Pray for the City" event in Downtown Kissimmee. A special time for churches to come together and pray for our city.
  • Tomorrow begins my first official day of working remotely; this should be interesting.
  • After 48 years of preparing men and women to be world changers and difference makers, Johnson University Florida closed the doors. I will be forever thankful for my time as a student of the college.
  • May the zeal never cease. IYKYK!

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We Worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim wrapped up his series on humility with a message focusing on the importance of repentance.
  • Key point of the message; Without God, moral standards are subjective; with God there are moral absolutes.
  • Over the last few years I have attended the commencement services at JUFL. Watching our students leave the Univeristy is bitter sweet. Yes, we have trained them to fulfill their calling as a Kingdom worker, but it is sad to watch them go. Now with the closing of JUFL, I  am saddened to watch my friends and colleagues scatter. I will miss them all.
  • Watching the Olymipic trials is exciting. Watching the winners of the each race be overcome with emotion is heartwarming.
  • Yes, there is the thrill of victory, but there is also the agony of defeat.
  • College Football is just around the corner. Can I get an Amen!
  • Hey Hallmark groupees, Christmas in July begins next week, please plan accordingly,
  • Something to Chew on; There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship. ~ Thomas Aquinas

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim preached a message on the importance of seeking God in these troubling times.
  • We were able to witness the baptismal waters stir once again. This never gets old.
  • Thank you Adam for the video  regarding generosity. Yes, it is always a matter of the heart.
  • I spent last week on the Tennessee campus of Johnson University.
  • You meet some of the most interesting people on Allegiant Airlines. Well, not always interesting, but different. And in the words of the famous theologian F. Gump,  "that is all I have to say about that!"
  • I admit I love the beach, but there is something wonderful about seeing the Smoky Mountains.
  • For many years my family vacationed in the Smoky Mountains, I think visiting Tennessee reminds me of my youth. VERY GOOD TIMES!
  • Great time celebrating Father's Day this weekend, Good Times!
  • God has blessed me with three wonderful children as well as two wonderful step children.
  • Tickets purchased for our Fall vacation, we can't wait!
  • Something to Chew on; A father carries pictures where his money use to be. ~ Steve Martin

SundayNight Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I was not able to attend churcht his morning as I was on a plane to Knoxville for our annual Advancement Retreat.
  • However I was able to watch Kissimmee Christian Church on line prior to taking off.
  • Jim's announcement and the congregation's response is a model for how churches should handle ministry transitions.
  • So thankful for the godly leadership demonstrated by our Elders and Staff this past week.
  • After hearing the announcement all I could think was, God Got This!'
  • BTW walking the halls of JUFL is becoming very difficult.
  • TSA Precheck - Don't leave home without it.
  • College football begins in 80 days!
  • Has anyone thought of building an Air Conditioned Dome over Florida? This past week was brutal!
  • When the water in your swimming pool feels the water in your bathtub, you know it is hot.
  • Something to Chew on; Change is not a threat, it is an opportunity. ~ Seth Godin.

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...
  • We worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • Jim's message focused on the importance of humility.
  • In a world seeking pride, humility is the key to a relationship with God.
  • It was great to see our student ministry "send off" our high school seniors who will be heading to college in the next few weeks.
  • We are blessed to have Lance and his team leading the next generation of Christ followers.
  • In preparation for our upcoming Advancement Retreat, I am reading Canoeing the Mountains by Tod Bolsinger. If you are a leader, this book will rock your world.
  • Since the announcement of JUFL closing, I have watched people go through various stages of grief; Shock, Disbelief, Anger, Bargaining, and finally Acceptance.
  • While it is not easy, we all have to come to Acceptance.
  • This is how I have come to accept the closing of JUFL, I think about all the graduates we have sent out, all the messages the alumni have delivered, all the churches that have been planted by our alumni, all the kids that have been impacted by alumni who led student ministries, all the worship and praise our alumni have led, and so much more. This I know, heaven is fuller because of the work of CFBC/FCC/JUFL.
  • We were and are blessed!
