Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I worshiped at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • The message focused on 1 Cor. 13, and the words; Love is not selfish.
  • If we are honest, we have to admit selfishness is an attitude we must always fight.
  • Thank you Les for challenging us to think more of others.
  • We were able to hold our May graduation this past Saturday.
  • Oh, the places these graduates will go as they extend the kingdom of God.
  • As I watched the graduation ceremony, I could not help think but think of my own graduation 39 years ago. I never imagined the many adventures I have experienced since I graduated from CFBC.
  • Has it really been 39 years?
  • Celebrating my mom's birthday tomorrow, looking forward to gathering with my brothers and mom. I wish dad could join us, but I am sure he will be smiling in heaven knowing his boys are with the love of his life!
  • Here is my favorite quote for this week's devotion; We don't choose what we will do for God; He invites us to join Him where he wants to involve us.
  • His divine invitation will be both challenging as well as exhilarating.
  • Once again I was humbled by the generosity of God's people this past week.
  • Generosity is not based on the amount of money in your bank account, but on the amount of love, one has in their heart!
  • We set our clocks back this Saturday night; yikes it is early evening darkness season, not my favorite time of year.
  • Seeing all the political ads currently on TV has me wondering what ads will we see after Nov. 3? Could we have commercial free TV? Probably not, but we can hope!
  • Something to Chew on; Your relationship with God is the single most important aspect of your life. If that is not in order, nothing else will be. ~ Harold Blackaby

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • I preached at Kissimmee Christian Church this morning.
  • One message preached three times, My hat is off to all of my preacher friends who preach 3 or more times on Sunday. I am exhausted!
  • Today's message, a glimpse of the holy.
  • Key thought this morning, Are you making space for God in your worship?
  • Key thought #2, Worship is where we meet God and He meets us.
  • Tony's communion mediation regarding no need for "piped in artificial crowd noise" in Heaven was spot on. Nope, all we will hear is the sound of every tribe, people, and nation praising the One who transformed our lives.
  • I had the opportunity to see Savannah play baseball this weekend, Blessed!
  • There is nothing like cold fried chicken for dinner on a Sunday evening. So simple, but it hits the spot!
  • Our May commencement is this coming Saturday, I am so proud of the class of 2020. So many fine young men and women going into Kingdom work. Heaven will be fuller because of their work.
  • All I can say, this is one crazy college football season.
  • However, it is fun ~ every game matters!
  • The siren of Halloween candy keeps calling my name, so far I have resisted!
  • Something to Chew on; You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone. ~ Roy T. Bennett

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few Thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Worshiped at Canoe Creek Christian Church this morning.
  • Over the next five weeks, the church looking to recalibrate their worship and ministry to families, seeking God's direction through prayer and reflection.
  • Ross asked a couple of penetrating questions this morning, Question #1, how do you prepare for worship? Question #2, do you prepare for worship?
  • Speaking of prayer, while our small group is not able to meet face to face I believe our prayer time is growing stronger each week. So thankful for this group of prayer warriors!
  • I spoke to a VERY good friend who has COVID along with his wife, friends this virus is serious stuff.
  • My dear friend Suzy lost a friend to COVID, my heart breaks for the families and friends who have lost loved ones as a result of this virus.
  • I had a special treat this morning, I worshiped with some long-time friends, following worship, we had a great lunch. Thank you, Jim, Nell, Faith, and Doug!
  • I have been rereading the book "Boundaries" by Henry Cloud, what a great book to help us focus on what we want to accomplish in a demanding world.
  • Saturday night I was able to connect with my oldest son and his family for dinner, BTW Suzy was our special guest. Anytime I can be with my kids it is a good day!
  • Well, Saturday did not go how I wanted it, but I still enjoy watching college football - REMEMBER, EVERY GAME MATTERS!
  • Something to Chew on; The difference between successful people and really successful people is really successful people say "No" to almost everything. ~ Warren Buffett

Sunday Night Reflections

A Few thoughts from an Amazing Day...

  • Preached at Macclenny Christian Church and First Christian Church Lake City this morning.
  • The theme of the message; "an uncommon place".
  • Key Point of the message; Common items, given to God, will produce uncommon results.
  • Key Point #2, We all have common items in our lives, the question for all of us; Are we willing to give God our common items and allow Him to work in our life?
  • COVID and Cancer have taken their toll on friends this past week. I am looking forward to the day when God will wipe away every tear.
  • When I hear of the people who are facing loss this past week, I find comfort in Jeremy Camp's song, There will be a Day. You can hear the song here.
  • I attended the funeral of a godly leader this past weekend, Mark was a great example of a life well-lived.
  • Here is a set of verses I am focusing on this week.
  • I was able to attend a High School football this past week, Always fun to watch young men play the game just for fun.
  • Fall has arrived in Florida, not much different than summer, except there is pumpkin spice everywhere!
  • But once the pumpkin spice goes away it is time for White Chocolate Oreos! Be still my beating heart!
  • Does anyone else out there forget to unmute their zoom meeting when they have a good point to share?
  • For the first 8 months of the year, I received a very small amount of snail mail, but in the last few weeks, I have been slammed with mail from politicians, MAKE IT STOP!
  • Something to Chew on; There are three constants in life... Change, Choice, and Principles. Stephen Covery
